Arch Enemy Arts presents NIGHT BLOOM by Wiley Wallace. Nine new paintings in acrylic on panel set in the expansive landscape of the American Southwest. With rolling, rocky mountains, flat plains, and endless skies as their backdrop, Wiley’s paintings show us snapshots of young adventurers chasing stardust, catching glimpses of other dimensions, and finding themselves face-to-face with tangible magic. 

 

Wiley Wallace (b. 1982) is based in Phoenix, Arizona. Though intimately scaled, his figurative paintings feel cinematic—vast and sweeping in both concept and scale. Adding to the visionary magic we find in his work, Wallace meticulously paints the cradled-edge panels, considering them integral elements of each composition. Detailed textures and forms wrap around the sides, a move that suggests this world continues beyond the picture plane and a magic that can never be fully contained. 

 

Born and raised in Arizona, Wiley Wallace studied at Arizona State University and obtained an MFA from University of California, Santa Barbara. He currently works as a professor at South Mountain Community College and began showing with Arch Enemy Arts in 2017. NIGHT BLOOM is the artist’s third solo feature with the gallery.
