Sad Salesman (aka Eric Althin, b. 1980) creates character-driven sculptures that merge the charm of designer toys with fine art, creating highly collectible personalities bursting with color and charm. Working in epoxy clay, acrylic, and resin, Sad Salesman explores repetition and variation as well as humor and humanity, using playful forms to engage viewers in joy and gentle absurdity. A self-taught artist, whose work has been rooted in the art toy community since the mid-2000s, Althin is based in Brooklyn, NY where he has lived and worked for over a decade.
