SAD SALESMAN

BUGS!

solo exhibition

March 1st - 31st, 2024

Opening Reception: First Friday, March 1st from 5-9pm

Arch Enemy Arts invites you to explore BUGS! by Sad Salesman; thirty-two glass-like insects crafted with care in acrylic, epoxy clay, and resin on vinyl. Sad Salesman, known for his playful approach to character design, has taken the concept of releasing different color-ways of the same toy and transformed it into a gallery experience, filling our shelves with perched and bulbous bugs in kaleidoscopic colors.

“Making art is something that’s always come naturally to me. I started collecting ‘art toys’ back in the mid-2000s and it didn’t take long before I started painting on them, then finally making my own. I love the designer toy scene, and I love seeing people light up with they see my characters.

Sad Salesman is a self-taught artist based in Brooklyn, and BUGS! is his debut feature with Arch Enemy Arts. Each one-of-a-kind BUG! features a consistent design that’s been hand-painted in bold, bright hues, patterns, metallic and color-shifting paints inspired by the vast diversity of nature. Finished in high-gloss resin, their super-shiny, reflective surfaces bounce like funhouse mirrors, warping viewers in their cloying cuteness and buzzing charm.

BUGS! will be on view from March 1st - 31st, 2024
Sold works will begin to ship the week st
arting April 7th, unless other rush arrangements have been made.

Payment plan options are available on most works.
