BEATRIZ BRADASCHII
THE SEASONS IN BETWEEN
solo exhibition
July 5th - 27th, 2025
Opening Reception: Friday, July 11th, 2025
Beatriz Bradaschii is a surveyor of dreams. Her second solo, THE SEASONS IN BETWEEN, features ten new intimate works in oil and clay that illustrate a serene, yet uncanny, internal landscape. Working in oil, Bradaschii’s paintings are impossibly smooth and silky. Her delicate brushstrokes are nearly invisible as she renders forms in muted colors that seem to glow and rise, suspended in air.
“THE SEASONS IN BETWEEN references the time that consciousness is in the liminal space, a threshold between states, where it feels like boundaries are dissolving. Achieved through mediation, dreams, trance, or the edges of sleep, I was inspired by nonlinear time and altered states of consciousness. ‘Seasons’ refers to how, in these states, time’s illusion breaks and can extend for small eternities even when only seconds have passed. I depicted these ideas through natural phenomena to externalize nature’s strangeness and to show how both nature and the psyche operate beyond the surface of ordinary perception.” - Beatriz Bradaschii
Heavily symbolic, Bradaschii’s art is still refreshingly open-ended; each time we return to any one piece, we find something new to discover. Some new story to imagine. For example, at the heart of the exhibition is the painting “Candles are burning and I am rising,” the artist’s personal favorite work in the show. In it, a mandragora lies sleeping on the table. Long steeped in myth and mysticism, this nightshade plant was once harvested in secret by medieval witches, believed to induce vivid hallucinations, trance states, and even a death-like sleep. Bradaschii has painted her mandrake holding a pair of scissors; next to it is a paper fortune teller bleeding from a cut. Nuanced moments like these abound in this show. The exhibition is a story, but it's less chronology than a vision, in which moments hover in time and the veil between worlds grows thin.
Beatriz Bradaschii (b. 1993) is based in São Paulo, Brazil. A rising star, she is primarily self-taught and began showing with Arch Enemy Arts in 2023. We love Bradaschii’s work for her romantic approach to traditional surrealism, depicting her dreams with the allure of Victorian horror and the innocence of a child’s fantasy.
