JULIET SCHRECKINGER

THE GHOST LIGHTS: VOL. III

solo exhibition

November 7th - 30th, 2025

Opening Reception: First Friday, November 7th from 5pm - 9pm

Arch Enemy Arts presents THE GHOST LIGHTS: VOL. III by Juliet Schreckinger, a monumental show featuring thirty new works and the final installment of the artist’s GHOST LIGHTS series. Since 2023, Juliet has been reimagining the world’s forgotten lighthouses as home to the extinct animals of the land and sea. In THE GHOST LIGHTS VOL. I, she focused on the relationship between lost lighthouses and extinct animals of the sea, while in VOL. II she paired lost lights with land creatures, particularly those that do not come to mind when thinking of coastal watchtowers. For VOL. III, Juliet wanted to “incorporate some element of humanity into the work, the complex yet beautiful relationship between humans and nature, a relationship,” she adds, ”that has so much nuance, both pain and happiness.”

“In this final chapter, the eighteen original extinct lighthouse keepers return, still guardians to their respective lights, but with open hearts to the humans that are long since gone from the world as well. In this world, there is life after death. There is forgiveness to those who hurt you in another life, there is understanding of how fragile life can be, and a genuine appreciation of things that shine. The extinct keepers help the newly forgotten humans navigate this new landscape, putting aside their differences and teaching them to dance again in this forgotten space.” - Juliet Schreckinger

Juliet renders death with so much hope and joy and humor, you can't help but smile looking at her work. Beautifully drawn with ink and graphite in Juliet’s signature black and white stippling technique, the skeletons – with their permanent grins and animated yet disjointed movements – emanate the same curiosity and innocence we’ve always enjoyed in Juliet’s work. In death, Juliet’s characters dance and play and love, like lingering spirits sent to befriend the animals we’ve lost, to make amends with the world they’ve left behind.

Juliet Schreckinger (b.1999) is based in Amityville, New York. Living and growing up by the water with a family of sea lovers has had an immeasurable impact on Juliet and her work, and she offers her art as a hopeful reminder of creatures and places of the past “and why it is vital we remember them.” Juliet graduated with a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in NYC. She has earned numerous awards for her work, exhibited in galleries and on murals across the country, and she’s been featured in Beautiful Bizarre magazine. THE GHOST LIGHTS III is Juliet’s fourth solo feature with Arch Enemy Arts, and it is an honor to be exhibiting her largest, most impressive body of work to-date.

THE GHOST LIGHTS: VOL. III will be on view from November 7th - 30th. Sold works will begin to ship the week starting December 14th, unless other rush arrangements have been made. Items marked with a red dot have already been sold.
