Arch Enemy Arts presents ODE TO FEELING by Beatriz Bradaschii, a surrealist painter who depicts lyrical landscapes of dreamy, interior worlds. For this series, Bradaschii employs her signature silken style, symbolism, and glowing, earthy palettes to explore emotions—or the act of receiving emotions—as her primary source material. In these works, eight new oil paintings and two drawings, Bradaschii’s figures entwine with nature to traverse symbolic, mysterious, and psychological terrain. At times, the journey appears to shatter her subjects (“The Observer” and “The Patient Ghost”). It engulfs them (“The Wait”). Even drowns them in sorrow (“The Sea Is Me”). Bradaschii recognizes this exploration goes against our physical instincts (“A Gathering At Dusk”), yet her protagonists remain calm and unwavering. They are vulnerable, yet present, as they examine the heart, a sacred gift capable of limitless learning.

 

“In ODE TO FEELING, I seek to honor emotions and feelings as valuable sources of information and self-awareness. Unconditional presence with our feelings in a world that is built around distractions and numbness, where we are taught to avoid and suppress and cope with every feeling and trigger categorized as ‘negative,’ ignores how useful our emotions are to us. Emotions are a compass. Most of my work comes from the importance of connecting with my dreams and subconscious mind, the knowing that there’s more to life than what can be seen on the surface. It is rooted in deep feelings and the processes that I go through on my journey to become a better version of myself. My work describes how my perception of the world changes each step of the way.” - Beatriz Bradaschii

Beatriz Bradaschii (b. 1993) is from São Paulo, Brazil. Primarily self-taught, she has a mix of formal and informal training, and in addition to her oil practice, Beatriz also creates mixed media sculptural works. Beatriz was invited to show with Arch Enemy Arts in 2023, and we are honored to host ODE TO FEELING, her third solo feature with the gallery.
