Mythos
opening: Friday, June 12th 2020
Arch Enemy Arts is excited to announce our newest group show, Mythos, an exhibition centered on ancient mythologies from all over the world.
Mythology stems from the Greek word mythos, meaning story-of-the-people. Myths have played in integral part in every civilization throughout the world—telling stories that account for and symbolize the most inexplicable parts of the human experience. And although myths have been passed down since the dawn of time, they also seem to exist outside of time, either happening long before or existing in the beyond. This made us wonder: How might artists interpret ancient cultural “truths” now? What happens when we view timeless tales through a contemporary lens? The result is our group show Mythos, a diverse collection of work that is wide-ranging in medium, subject, and style.
