HORRIBLE ADORABLES

HOMEBODY

November 7th - 30th, 2025

Opening Reception: First Friday, November 7th from 5pm - 9pm

Arch Enemy Arts presents HOMEBODY, an immersive exhibition by Jordan Perme and Chris Lees, creators of the soft sculpture hybrid creatures and collectibles known as HORRIBLE ADORABLES. The exhibition includes twenty-five horribly cute and fantastical characters, adorned in felt and mixed media and ranging in style. From traditional sculptural forms like head-mounts and figurines to objects that blend form and function: a footstool, bookends, and candle-holders, the show is alive with whimsy and wonder. Plus, they’re offering up a haul of collectibles and handmade housewares—ceramic plates, designer toys, and mugs—available online and for carryout in our storefront boutique.

“With this collection we wanted to explore turning our hybrid animals into functional home objects. As we began imagining a setting for them, we thought of Homebody, one of our forest-dwelling creatures that carries a house on its back, and we thought of how Homebody’s house would be filled with magical objects come to life. We really enjoy immersive art experiences, so the next natural step was to create a full-scale Homebody to invite viewers to step inside and immerse themselves in a cozy room filled with fantastical creatures.”

The result is HOMEBODY, a 100 square foot house, fully constructed by the artists, with an inflatable 5 x 5 foot head. Stepping inside this magical den, the space is filled with handcrafted creatures, art objects, vintage furniture and colorful housewares, enveloping visitors in cozy warmth and nostalgia. Inspired by Slavic folklore and a great love of toys, monsters, patterns and oddities, Perme and Lees have employed countless techniques to bring HOMEBODY’s home-body to life. From PLA engineered functional art objects to silkscreen underglaze, rug tufting, and ceramics with the guidance of ceramicist Nanette Reilly, they’ve seamlessly built an intimate and cohesive habitation, the warm embrace of Horrible Adorables’ interior world.

Jordan Perme and Chris Lees are based in Cleveland, Ohio. They met at the Cleveland Institute of Art where Jordan graduated with her BFA in Fiber & Material Studies and Chris pursued training in Fine Arts after his BS in Mechanical Engineering. In addition to Horrible Adorables, Chris is an international trade advisor and Jordan works as a freelance toy and textile designer. The couple began exhibiting with Arch Enemy Arts in 2022, and we are thrilled to be the venue for the ambitious installation that is HOMEBODY, their debut feature with the gallery.
