Richard Ahnert
TORONTO
Richard Ahnert is an award-winning artist best known for painting anthropomorphic characters that explore intimate, emotional narratives of contemporary life. Full of depth and luminosity, his incredibly naturalistic works draw on classical storytelling with satirical twists, setting moods that are at once playful and solemn, epic and lighthearted, mirroring the complexity of what it means to be human (and animal) in the world today.
Ahnert studied Technical Illustration and Graphic Design at York University and Seneca College. His work is exhibited and collected around the world and has been heavily featured in print and digital publications. Ahnert began showing with Arch Enemy Arts in 2017, and we will celebrate his second solo feature with the gallery in 2023.
