Molly Gruninger

NASHVILLE, TN

Molly Gruninger’s surreal portraits, grounded in traditional techniques, render the figure within uncanny, futuristic dreamscapes, where visual narratives entwine with hyperreal human forms. Drawing from both photography and hand-sculpted, life-size mannequin models, her figures often carry an ultrasmooth, synthetic glow that is at once sublime and disorienting, an exploration of the shifting relationship between the self and our ever-changing world.

Molly Gruninger (b. 1987) is based in Nashville, Tennessee and holds a BFA in Visual Communication from Ball State University. Influenced by an upbringing shaped by a pilot father and an art teacher mother, her work carries both a grounded materiality and a sense of wonder. Gruninger began exhibiting with Arch Enemy Arts in 2024 and celebrated her first solo feature with the gallery in August 2025.
