Lauren YS is a leading figure in the vibrant Los Angeles street art and graffiti scene. The artist’s distinctive illustrative style and lush imagery are inspired by their Asian-American roots, comics, and erotic and psychedelic art.
Lauren was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. After receiving their BA from Stanford in English and Art Practice in 2013, Lauren moved to San Francisco to become a freelance illustrator, muralist, and artist. Their work has been exhibited across the United States and in Europe exploring sex, gender, and violence in site-specific murals, acrylic paintings, ink drawings, and sculptures. YS has created outdoor and indoor murals at the Long Beach Museum of Art and New York City’s 4 World Trade Center, as well as their latest installation at Meow Wolf Santa Fe.
