kEda Gomes

PORTUGAL

kEda Gomes is a South African artist living and working in Portugal. Her illustrative work, expressed through a range of media, explores themes of identity, exclusion, childhood, and politics through recurring adolescent characters. Gomes often connects these characters, their associations and associated imagery, to fairy tales and myths of the past as she explores the entangled mythologies of identity and belonging in the present.

Gomes studied at KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa which has influenced her work greatly. Her work has been featured in numerous publications, and she creates one-of-a-kind toys for galleries like Clutter Gallery in NYC. Gomes has been showing with Arch Enemy Arts since submitting to our 2020 Spotlight Showcase and will present her first solo feature in 2023.
