Jessica Hess

OAKLAND, CA

Jessica Hess (b. 1981) creates hyperreal landscape paintings that merge classical technique with contemporary digital interference, depicting urban and abandoned environments with surreal clarity. By introducing pixelation into her meticulously rendered scenes, she disrupts the illusion of reality and prompts viewers to question perception, censorship, and the pervasive influence of technology on how we see the world.

Jessica Hess earned a BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design, and she’s been exhibiting her work nationally and internationally for over fifteen years. Arch Enemy Arts has been representing Hess’ work since 2017, and she’s appeared in ten group shows with the gallery to-date.
