Andrea Hooge

LOS ANGELES, CA

Andrea Hooge makes black and white scratchboard drawings that are scrollcut, layered and cleanly collaged into unconventional sculptural shapes. With a meticulous hand, she etches detailed scenes of tender animal figures inspired by personal symbols and vintage children’s books and toys. Andrea’s work is playful and nostalgic, while exploring themes such as religion, heritage, and tradition, creating darling accessible entry points into deeper issues and ideas.

Andrea Hooge (b. 1979) is based in Vancouver, BC, Canada and studied Visual Arts and Psychology from the University of the Fraser Valley. On a career path to becoming an art therapist, she fell in love with printmaking, specifically etching and linocut, which led her to discover scratchboard, now her preferred medium. Andrea began showing with Arch Enemy Arts last year after submitting to the 2024 Spotlight Showcase. Though she’s exhibited widely around Vancouver, Andrea celebrated her first solo feature in the States with Arch Enemy Arts in March of 2025.
