Alex Garant

TORONTO, CANADA

Alex Garant (French-Canadian, b. 1982) is internationally dubbed the “Queen of Double Eyes.” Her signature use of superpositioning her subjects so that they vibrate off the surface make her a leader in new contemporary op-art, while her choices in content and color challenge conformity and convention, question identity and persona.

Garant was born in Quebec City and studied visual art at Notre-Dame-De-Foy-College. After a heart attack in 2012, she turned her career toward art full-time. She’s since exhibited in galleries around the world, as well as in prestigious institutions such as the Museum of Art and History (MOAH) in California, the Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum in Arizona, the Honolulu Museum of Art in Hawaii, and the Medici Museum of Arts in Warren, Ohio.
