Arch Enemy Arts is elated to present Small Dreams, an exciting solo exhibition featuring the magnetic work of Thomas Ascott. Debuting 9 pieces in both oil and graphite, some with a clever nod to works from the past, this feature carries every hallmark of Ascott’s brilliant style.

Residing in South Florida, Thomas allows his work to take on life and meaning through the interpretation and enjoyment of the observer. By avoiding too heavy-handed or didactic meaning ascribed to his art, he allows the narrative of his figures to exist autonomously, playing out their unique personalities in what way we can individually imagine. It is in this that Ascott speaks to the child in all of us, providing a personal window into a fantastic world of his creation.

With Small Dreams, Ascott conjures the ethereal, each painting enveloped with the soft, delicate glow that his work is known for. His perceptive and acute attention to luminosity gives his fantasies magnificent dimension. The same quality and attention is visible in his drawings, playfully rendering his eccentric characters in various states of leisure and craft making. There is a sense of play and serenity throughout each of the works, giving the observer a quiet breath within their calm and whimsical nostalgia.

Small Dreams is Thomas Ascott’s fourth solo feature with Arch Enemy Arts following his 2021 feature, Side Trails.
