Arch Enemy Arts is pleased to present: HEAD-LANDS, an imaginative new feature from California artist, Kelly Vivanco. A brand new series of 6 original works, Kelly exudes narrative-like whimsy through figurative acrylic painting.

Richly colored and with chromatic depth, Kelly’s work is a wonder to gaze upon. Her figures stare out from their respective scenes, some depicting strength and presence, others vulnerability and emotion. Each with an individual story to tell, they are accompanied by anthropomorphic and animated fauna that bring a certain sense of enchantment to the narrative. The personalities of her subjects are as material as their rendering, with playful economy and a graphic quality to her gestural brushstrokes. Evoking a storybook sensibility through stylistic proportion, the characters are made lifelike by attentive temperature shifts, skillfully placed highlights, and brilliant textural contrast.

Eschewing photorealism in favor of imagined worlds, Kelly hopes to inspire viewers to write their own stories to ascribe to her paintings. HEAD-LANDS is Kelly Vivanco’s first solo feature with Arch Enemy Arts, and has been shown in myriad group displays with the gallery since 2016.
