Continuing with a theme that's been present in a lot of her recent work, for In The Cards, Julianna focused on familiar symbols from Tarot deck. Each figure is depicted with an ironic twist that provides a fresh interpretation of the tarot theme. Lately many of her characters the garish pageantry of each figure is animated within by an invented skeletal character representing the vacuousness of their respective souls. The figures are painted on 24K gold leaf backgrounds and frames which enhance their baroque excess.
