EMILY WHITE

RED

feature

March 18th, 2022

Arch Enemy Arts is pleased to present RED, a brilliant solo feature debuting five original works by Philadelphia artist Emily White. A balancing act of dynamic environments with stoic wildlife subjects, this series depicts all the classic stylings of White’s work, conceptually as smooth and fresh as the finish on each of her acrylic paintings.

Red is both reconciliation and reckoning, each work a reflection of a world ravaged by climate change and a call to contemplation. Here, majestic creatures juxtaposed with disaster are somehow as serene as they are poignant and gripping. White’s sensitive use of composition melds with vivid tonality, capturing the nuances of tufted fur and textured scales, all within dramatic scenes where nature meets crisis. “Bloodbath” and “Seeing Red” —the artist’s personal favorites— pull the eye into depth both visually and emotionally, churning like the blood and smoke of their respective scenes. “Outpost” suspends our view, proud and precarious, while “Airstrike” is cinematic and bold, both imposing and equally magnificent.

This exceptional series is Emily White’s first solo feature with Arch Enemy Arts, and can be viewed online and in person through April 17th, 2022.
