Arch Enemy Arts is pleased to present Tales Beyond Eye Contact, our first solo show with English artist Bruce Parker.

 

Blending nostalgia with themes bordering both the grotesque and the hilarious, Parker’s work explores the collective pop-consciousness through painted and layered cutouts. Debuting nine handsomely crafted works of cartoonish delight, Parker’s style is equal parts alluring, accessible, and disconcerting. Outside of his conceptual ability, however, is the aptitude of his execution; Bruce’s seamless and smooth quality of line is truly something to behold. His rich use of bright yet entirely unified color is dazzling, holding your attention like a Saturday morning Hanna Barbera supplement.

 

Noting that, at times, his pieces may have serious undertones, Parker states that his intention is for the work to always look fun. The general positivity of the piece allows the artist to smile, even in vulnerability, just as the characters he creates smirk from their oozing environments.

 

Tales Beyond Eye Contact is Bruce Parker’s debut solo feature with Arch Enemy Arts, while previously being shown in every Small Wonders Show since 2015.

Bruce's TALES BEYOND EYE CONTACT exhibition will be on view from May 20th - June 12th, 2022.
