Nom Kinnear King: Bounded Branches
September 7th - 29th, 2018
Arch Enemy Arts is excited to announce the release of Bounded Branches, the first AEA solo collection from Nom Kinnear King.
Gathering inspiration from found objects and her surroundings, and working in oils and pastels to create imaginary female portraits. The subjects are girls who roam from town to town in a patchwork old fashioned never world. For Bounded Branches Nom documents the changing of the seasons, following two of these characters through 12 paintings, one for each month of the year. Rather than working on the collection all at once, Nom instead worked on one piece per month for the past year, choosing instead to create each piece within the month it represents.
“I painted as many as I could in their months, making May in May visiting the blue bell woods, and went to blickling gardens in July when flowers were full, to capture those moments I could when I was in them. With the colder months I worked more from nostalgia for the seasons the magic of October leaves and the beauty of the bleakness of winter.”
Bounded Branches opens Friday 9/7 and will remain on view through 9/29
