Allison Sommers
BERLIN, GERMANY
Art worker Allison Sommers works in mixed media and gouache to create grotesque compositions. The material surface of their work, constructed with assemblage as well as paint, is as seductive and meaty as the bizarre subjects they contain.
Sommers was raised in a military family, and the Cold War-Era Air Force Bases they grew up in largely inform their work. Self-taught as an artist, Sommers studied History at the University of Virginia, and began exhibiting professionally in 2007 across the US and Europe. Sommers has participated in more than ten group shows at Arch Enemy Arts since the gallery’s inception in 2014.
