A great portrait is more than just a face. Portraits can tell a story, show you happiness, hopefulness, and humor. They can show you pain, sadness, and despair. Sometimes it can show you how the subject feels, and other times it’s a distraction from the truth, a careful construction of what the subject wants you to see.
For our first show of 2014, Arch Enemy Arts’ newest show, Grins & Lies will focus on unconventional portraits in oils and acrylics. The show features original works from 8 artists who each bring something new and compelling to this classic type of subject matter.
Covering many styles, from photo-realism to pure surrealism, the show includes brand new works from Buddy Nestor, Maria Teicher, Rachael Bridge, Kristin Forbes-Mullane, Leilani Bustamante, Kat Gun, Henry Schreiber, and Sean Talamini.
